Privacy policy

This describes what happens to your information when you use this website. It is written to be read rather than to satisfy a checkbox, so it is specific about what we collect and honest about the two companies that process it on our behalf.

Who is responsible for your information

Vancouver Drywall Guys, a drywall contractor operating in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. We are the organisation accountable for the personal information described here.

For any question about this policy or about your own information, email quotes@vancouverdrywallguys.ca or call 604-227-4559. There is no separate privacy department to route you through.

What we collect, and why

Only what you enter into the quote form. Nothing on this site collects information about you in the background. Every field is listed below along with the reason it exists.

Your name
So we know who we are talking to and can address the quote to you.
Your phone number
Because quoting drywall work almost always needs one phone call.
Your email address
To send you the written quote.
The service you selected
So the right person looks at it and we can price it without a second round of questions.
Your neighbourhood or postcode, if you enter it
This field is optional. It tells us the travel involved and whether the building is likely to be a strata.
Whatever you write in the message field
Only what you choose to type. Please do not put anything sensitive in it, because it is a job description box and nothing more.
Which page the form was submitted from
A short internal label such as "service-drywall-repair". It tells us what you were reading so we can quote the right thing. It is not a browsing history.

The form also carries two anti-spam measures, both of which run in your own browser. One is a hidden field that humans never see and bots tend to fill in. The other records the moment the page was rendered, so a submission completed in under about two and a half seconds is discarded as automated before anything is sent. Neither identifies you and neither leaves your browser.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of majority in British Columbia, and this site is not directed at children.

Your consent and how we use it

Submitting the quote form is your consent for us to use those details to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and carry out the work if you go ahead. That is the entire purpose. We do not use it for anything else.

We do not send marketing email. There is no newsletter, no drip sequence and no re-engagement campaign, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from. If we ever wanted to send commercial electronic messages we would have to ask for your consent separately under Canada's anti-spam legislation, and we would.

You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us, subject to any information we still need to keep for a job we have already done. Withdrawing consent before we have quoted simply means we stop and delete the enquiry.

Who else handles your information

Two service providers, both acting on our instructions. We do not sell personal information, we do not trade it, and we do not pass enquiries to other contractors or lead brokers.

Vercel, our hosting provider

Serves the pages of this website. Like any web host, its infrastructure processes the network requests your browser makes, including your IP address, and keeps short-lived operational logs. It does not handle the quote form, which your browser sends directly to the provider below. Vercel's optional analytics product is switched off on this project.

FormSubmit, which delivers the quote form

When you submit the form, your browser sends it to FormSubmit, which turns it into an email to our inbox. That means FormSubmit receives everything you typed, along with your IP address, and processes it as part of sending the message. Their role is delivery only: we do not query them for past enquiries, we work from the emails in our own inbox, and nothing you submit is stored on this website.

Google Maps, in our footer

Every page has a Google map of our service area in the footer. Your browser loads it directly from Google, so Google receives your IP address and the usual request details and its own privacy terms apply to that connection. We do not receive anything from that map and we do not use it to identify you.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept while the quote is live and are deleted after that. We are not building a database of people who did not hire us.

Where you do go ahead, we keep the quote, the invoice and correspondence about the job for as long as we need it to honour the workmanship warranty and to meet Canadian tax and business record requirements. Warranty claims and tax records are the two reasons that period is measured in years rather than months.

How it is protected

The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type into the form is encrypted in transit. Access to the inbox that receives quote requests is limited to the people who need it to price and run jobs.

No system is perfectly secure and we are not going to claim otherwise. What we can say is that we hold as little as possible, which is the most effective protection available: there is no customer database on this website, no stored payment details, and no account for you to have a password to.

Your rights

Under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy of it, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, and ask us to delete it where we have no continuing need to keep it.

Email quotes@vancouverdrywallguys.ca and we will respond within 30 days, which is the timeframe the legislation sets. We may need to confirm who you are first, so that we are not handing someone else's job details to the wrong person.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy question, you can escalate it. In British Columbia that is the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC. For matters falling under the federal legislation it is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. You do not need our permission to contact either of them, and we would rather you did that than stay unhappy with an answer we gave you.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no tracking cookies, and there is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. We run no analytics platform, no tag manager, no advertising or conversion pixels, no session recording, no heatmaps and no call tracking.

Fonts are self-hosted on our own domain rather than requested from Google Fonts, so loading a page here does not tell a third party that you visited. That decision was made for page speed as much as privacy, but both reasons hold.

If we ever add analytics, this section gets rewritten before it goes live rather than after.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect or who processes it changes, we update this page and change the date at the top. The date at the top is the honest signal, so check it rather than taking our word for it.

Questions about any of this are welcome, including the awkward ones. Call 604-227-4559 or email quotes@vancouverdrywallguys.ca.
